Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

The Disney Animal Health team maintains a large hospital team of 10 veterinarians and 24 animal care, veterinary technician, medical records, and administrative staff. This role would support the full-time clinical veterinarians in a part-time role fulfillment based on scheduled needs for clinical coverage. Casual temporary (CT) is an employee who is scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week on a recurring, intermittent, or seasonal basis. This clinical role based at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (DAK) will partner with the animal health and animal care teams as well as nutritionists and animal nutrition center managers, animal husbandry managers, Water Sciences, Guest Animal Experience, and Science Departments. This role would focus on the DAK and DAK Lodge populations and should possess a commitment to excellence in both terrestrial and aquatic animal care as well as a passion for communicating The Walt Disney Company’s conservation message to guests and cast. You must be willing to perform medical procedures in a public viewing environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • Three to five years of aquatic and zoological medicine experience
  • Florida licensure or be qualified to take the Florida State Board examination
  • USDA-accreditation in the state of Florida, or eligibility to become USDA-accredited in the state of Florida
  • Commitment to animal care excellence and a passion for conservation
  • Willingness to perform veterinary procedures in a public viewing environment
  • Demonstrated computer skills with mainstream compatible programs
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to thrive as part of a multi-doctor practice, and as an animal health partner with other teams. Demonstrated ability to follow directions well and handle detail-oriented information

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACZM board certification
  • Breadth of veterinary experience with different animal taxa, terrestrial and aquatic experience preferred.
  • Experience at an AZA-accredited facility

 

Required Education

  • DVM or equivalent degree
