Description
Do you have a passion for teaching and/or research?
Are you seeking to combine these career aspirations with other commitments?
The Department of Veterinary Medicine has an opportunity for part-time radiologists seeking to complement their current career choice with work in a University teaching environment. These roles are designed to be flexible to fit around other career and life commitments. The posts also offer the opportunity to combine clinical casework with teaching and research activities.
Applicants must have completed an approved Residency programme in Diagnostic Imaging and have passed or be eligible to the sit the second part (practical) of the ECVDI examination. Preference will be given to Diploma holders. An in-depth understanding of the requirements of veterinary referral hospital work is essential.
Amongst other state of the art equipment, the Department has recently been awarded full funding for a 3 Tesla MRI which will provide the central point of a translational clinical and research platform.
On clinics, you will be responsible for providing small and large animal diagnostic imaging services to the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital; training and supervising postgraduate Clinical Training Scholars and for practical teaching of diagnostic imaging to undergraduates. You will also assist the Principal Clinical Radiologist with the marketing of the diagnostic imaging service to the veterinary profession and engaging with local referring practitioners. During off-clinics time you will be responsible for carrying out a research activity of your choice, and helping in the design and delivery of the teaching programmes for veterinary students.
You will be required to participate in the paid on-call diagnostic imaging rota, in order to meet the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme requirement for 24/7, 365 days per year veterinary cover within the Hospital. We offer additional OOH remuneration for this commitment, a CPD allowance and a generous pension scheme. A market pay supplement, dependent on experience, will also be considered.
