The role

A rare opportunity exists at the Bendigo Animal Relief Centre (BARC) for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our team of professionals. As BARCs only Vet Nurse, you will assist the facility Veterinarian and Operations Manager with successful animal welfare strategies during the day to day operations of the City’s pound and shelter services.

In this busy facility, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and wellbeing of all animals in the centre and in foster care, and daily compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes and Policies as they relate to the BARC and animal welfare.

You will also assist with surgery schedules, vaccination schedules, medical treatment, record keeping, product ordering and assist the Veterinarian with general nursing duties including animal assessments, administering medications and ethical euthanasia.

 

About You

To be successful in this position, you will have knowledge of veterinary science through formal training and relevant experience working as a Vet Nurse, have strong communication and time management skills and enjoy working in a team environment.

BARC is open 7 days a week and weekend work may be required.

A satisfactory police records check and Working with Children Check is required for this position.
