About the role 

Based within UNE's Centre for Animal Research & Teaching (CART), as Technical Officer you will primarily be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of CART facilities, the care and welfare of animals within them and the provision of technical support across all areas of CART teaching and research. Reporting to the Operations and Training Manager, the role supports industry best practice in the conduct and welfare of research and teaching activities in multi-disciplinary areas. If you are an enthusiastic, team-oriented contributor with a desire to provide high quality support across all areas of teaching and research within an animal research facility then this role could be for you.

Skills & Experience

To be successful you will ideally have previous experience in the handling and care of animals with demonstrated expertise in the operation and maintenance of a range of facilities, equipment and techniques as would apply for an animal research centre. A sound understanding and ability to demonstrate commitment to the application of Work Health & Safety, risk assessment and risk management principles will be required. You should also have a high level of time management skills along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your priority will be ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of professional behaviour and customer service that supports both internal and external stakeholders and the delivery of quality outcomes.
