Description
We are a fast-paced, mixed animal veterinary practice looking to hire individuals with proven experience working cattle. Familiarity with AI protocol and procedures is a plus.
Requirements:
Qualified individuals will have had previous hands-on experience working with or assisting with all types of cattle in regards to vaccination, tagging, branding, dehorning, castration, and general herd work, and will have significant experience sorting and moving cattle through pens and hydraulic chutes. Must be able to regularly lift 50+ lbs, pressure wash chutes, clean stalls, and feed/water hospitalized animals. Individuals must be able to work well independently and in a group, use computers and tablets to update patient records and provide excellent customer service to clients. Mandatory participation in weekly on-call rotation and weekend work required, including pressure washing barn.
Other duties include:
Vaccinating and treating patients under the supervision of a veterinarian, assisting doctors in surgery, preparing and labeling prescriptions, preparing for and assisting on farm calls, keeping owners updated on the status of patients and charges, assisting in AI procedures and heat observations, stocking/cleaning of horse exam room, assisting with regulatory testing and documentation, maintaining equipment, livestock areas, and general grounds upkeep. Experience working safely with cattle while loading/unloading from trailers, sorting cattle in pens, working chutes, proper handling and restraint of horses, goats, pigs, sheep, and other livestock.
