Cattle Health Consulting provides exclusive animal health consulting and related services to commercial and studs cattle operations in the Light North, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills of South Australia.

We are currently looking for a cattle veterinary nurse. This is a casual position aimed to support our senior veterinarian as well as our veterinary nurse during scheduled work on farms. Progression to a part-time role is a possibility, in due time and circumstances.

About the role, tasks and skills:

The cattle veterinary nurse will support our veterinarian in the field. Sporadic computer work will be also part of the tasks. You will need to enjoy practical and manual activities on-farm whilst supporting the senior veterinarian and our senior veterinary nurse and handling cattle with confidence and patience. Duties are mostly performed outdoors and conducted in all kinds of weather conditions. The role is not suitable for candidates suffering from allergies aggravated by animal hair and/or dust.

This role requires a person with excellent attention to detail and social skills, a good but wise sense of humour. Due to the professional nature of our services, the candidate filling this position must take confidentiality very seriously and have a strong sense of integrity and respect for others.

Formal training in veterinary nursing (Certificate IV or Diploma or equivalent) is preferred. Proven past or current experience in working with dairy and/or beef cattle is required. This casual role might suit someone currently living in a farm environment willing to diversify her/his hours or aiming to break the routine. Residing at or within a reasonable distance from Gawler is highly desired.
