PGG Wrightson Ltd is a NZX listed company with a long and proud heritage as a leading nationwide provider of products and services to the rural sector.  We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to hold primary responsibility for the effective management of the Animal Health & Animal Management categories within our Retail & Water business.

This national role is responsible for supplier relationship management, negotiating terms of trade, category planning and the effective management of products.  The successful applicant will create and drive strategic plans for the category, ensuring maximum sustainable earnings are achieved.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and grow current supplier partnerships, negotiate terms of trade to realise superior category performance
• Continuation of the strategic category plan, setting annual financial and performance targets that support the wider group strategy
• Develop relationships within the PGW Retail & Water Group to collectively achieve the category's objectives through communication, education and support
• Report on category performance and provide commentary against results
• Develop procurement strategies and best practice standards

 Skills and Experience:

• 5 years of experience in a similar level Category Management role
• Proven industry experience with a sound knowledge of Animal Health & Animal Management product lines
• Ability to work under pressure and made decisions effectively
• Strong commercial and financial acumen skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel critical). ERP exposure is advantageous
• High level communication, problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills

We are a geographically dispersed business, meaning we can offer flexibility as to where this role is based, as long as you can easily access an airport.
