Description

Attention job seeking humans!

We are the cats who have needed to stop in at Cat Haven, WA’s largest open admissions cat shelter. We are on the hunt for a Cat Welfare and Adoptions Manager to make sure we are well cared for during our stay, and to help us find a loving and comfortable fur-ever home. This position is full-time working Tuesdays to Saturdays.

For almost 60 years Cat Haven has been our…. well, Haven! They never turn away a feline friend in need and have been committed to keeping us safe and well. They provide us with;

  • Shelter and care when we have nowhere else to go;
  • Foster care when we are feeling sick, injured or just a bit shy;
  • Adoption services so we can find a permanent and safe home.

Working at Cat Haven

We love the staff and volunteers at Cat Haven, they always tell us how cute we are, feed us, clean our spaces, make sure we are healthy and help us to find a new family to join when we are ready. They all seem a little obsessed with us, but we like the attention. The Cat Welfare and Adoptions Manager makes sure that we always get the care we need and the homes best for us by;

  • Leading our grounds, external adoptions, volunteer and cat rescue teams, made up of over 20 staff.
  • Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations through effective rostering, delegation and time management.
  • Driving employee motivation and engagement through providing feedback, training and development.
  • Assessing Cat Haven’s capacity and implementing strategies to ensure number of cats residing at Cat Haven remains at a level we can provide the highest level of care for.
  • Building effective working relationships across departments.
  • Assisting with decisions on rehoming options and euthanasia.

It is not always an easy job, with almost 8,000 of us needing to visit each year! But the humans always say how rewarding they find it, like finally being able to catch the red light that flies around.

We are hoping to find someone who;

  • Is passionate about helping Cats and Humans!
  • Has excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Has experience managing a team of more than 10 members.
  • Has excellent delegation, prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Has qualifications (or working towards) in Animal Care and Services or previous experience within the animal care industry is desirable, but not essential.

If you think you are the right purr-son for this job, and have any fur-ther questions, please reach out to Ashby at recruitment@cathaven.com.au or 9442 3611. She will translate your question into meows for us.
