About This Opportunity

The School of Veterinary Science, The University of Queensland, Gatton Campus has casual positions available for tutoring and teaching undergraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students. The successful applicants will be veterinarians, or veterinary nurses/technicians. Postgraduate students in the veterinary fields or experienced tutors in preclinical disciplines are also encouraged to apply. Major areas we are seeking teachers in are surgery, radiology and reproduction in large animals.

The school provides a structured paid Tutor Training Program (1 day). Mentoring and training by the discipline lead will be provided for successful applicants.

For surgery techniques, training and review of videos will need to be completed before engaging with the students in surgical practicals. This is to ensure the tutor has a clear understanding of the techniques and procedures being taught to students and to ensure that all tutors convey the same information consistently to students. Practical classes typically run from 3 to 5 hours and will be conducted at the Gatton Campus.

Classes take place in teaching weeks of both semesters. Typically this is from around the end of February to the end of May for semester one and from the end of July to the end of October for semester two.
