About the role:
The Technical Assistant – Equine supports teachers and students at practical equine training to ensure safety of all students and provide expertise in horse husbandry as part of the Certificate II in Equine Studies.
The Equine Technical Officer is a member of the VET in Schools, Science and Animal Studies team within the Faculty of Health, Community & Life Sciences. This position is responsible for working professionally with employees at all levels across the BHI and liaising with relevant external stakeholders, including Equine Industry Groups.
Your Skills and Qualifications:
Qualifications
• Relevant industry experience is essential
• Current Level 2 First Aid
• AQF II or above qualification in an Equine field and/or a Coaching accreditation is desirable
Expertise Requirements
1. Vocational Expertise: Current and relevant experience in Equine Studies.
2. Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, participate in group problem solving, attend team meetings, PD sessions, contribute towards continuous improvement and facilitate a positive work culture.
3. Flexibility: Proven ability to understand and readily adapt to changing circumstances both within and outside of the classroom. Demonstrated openness to new ideas and ability to positively respond to and implement these. Ability to work across different campuses and teach in different courses subject to operational needs within subject matter expertise.
