About the role:
A very exciting and unique opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as our Clinical Veterinarian! This opportunity is casual and offering a highly attractive highly rate!
The Clinical Veterinarian provides professional veterinary services within Pets on Elgar Veterinary and Grooming Clinic including;
- Providing high quality care for all animals by applying thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of veterinary medicine.
- Inspecting and monitoring the health and well-being of all animals, mammals, reptiles and amphibians at our Animal Facilities at Elgar and Lilydale campuses ensure appropriate care and timely treatment is given.
- Organising veterinary examination and care of any sick or injured animals.
- Maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all equipment and supplies, ensuring ease of identification of location, safeguarding, security, compliance and regular maintenance.
- Providing technical advice on animal husbandry and procedures for staff and students.
- Cleaning all equipment according to manufacturers’ guidelines and keep animal facilities neat, clean and tidy.
- Participating in quality assurance audits of veterinary or animal welfare type content.
The Clinical Veterinarian is a member of the Science and Animal Studies team within Faculty of Health Community and Life Sciences. The Faculty is part of the Vocational College, providing courses ranging from Certificates to Diplomas, and postgraduate programs. Disciplinary areas include nursing, aged care, community services, children’s services, animal studies, veterinary nursing, equine studies and laboratory sciences.
Our courses provide pathways into further education and employment, and help to increase life and employability skills. Full-time, part-time, on-campus, blended, work-based and online delivery options exist to suit the needs of our students and industry partners.
About You:
- AQF Level 7 qualification or higher in Veterinary Science.
- Extensive experience in the care of animals in a veterinary clinic with recent industry experience within a small animal Veterinary Clinic
- Current registration with Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria
- Understanding of compliance and administrative requirements relevant to the regulatory areas including WHS, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Animal Ethics and Office of the Gene Technology Regulator
- Ability to clearly and confidently communicate with other people at all levels of the organisation and handle difficult and sensitive communications well
- Self-motivated and is highly organised to autonomously plan, implement and report on deliverables, with the ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision
- Builds team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction and delegating responsibilities appropriately. Ability to develop a cohesive team with shared clarity around goals and accountabilities
- Ability to listens to clients and actively seek ways to meet client needs and seek ways to improve services. Ability to commit to delivering high quality outcomes for clients
