Armourguard, providing services to the Whangarei District Council is looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused officer to fill our newly created Animal and General Bylaws Liaison Office role.

The focus of this role will be to deliver an education, monitoring and compliance programme in relation to Councils newly amended Animal Bylaw, as well as other general Bylaws of the Council.

You will develop relationships with key stakeholders such as the SPCA, the Ministry for Primary Industries, the Northland Regional Council and animal welfare groups and will work with these organisations to develop processes on how to deal with nuisance cats, feral and semi-feral cats and cat management in general within the district.  You will be working together with the wider Animal Management team and at times will be required to assist with dog control functions whilst focusing on providing education, advice and guidance to our customers on animal/bylaw and noise related matters, including the investigation and resolution of complaints and the enforcement of applicable rules.

You will be comfortable interpreting legislative requirements and turning them into operational plans whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. You will also be an excellent communicator who builds professional and effective relationships with our customers and stakeholders at all levels.

Ideally you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and be able to demonstrate work experience related to animal welfare.

As part of our busy team, you will be given autonomy for your own work programme, therefore excellent planning, and time management skills are a must.

Applicants must be 18 years or older and have no criminal convictions which would prevent them from obtaining a Certificate of Approval to work for Armourguard under the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act 2010.
