THE ROLE

As Business Manager, you will be showcasing your impressive business acumen and knowledge of the agriculture/poultry industry at a state-of-the-art, free range poultry farms.

Responsible for over 1 million birds across several farms, you will be accountable for meeting long-term production goals and driving the efficiency and profitability of the business through your effective management strategies.

Following sustainable livestock management practices, your extensive poultry experience will see you maximising bird growth, managing bird health and biosecurity. Committed to business improvement, you will ensure all aspects of the operation are performing optimally and be proactive in managing a range of other responsibilities.

You must be able to work within budget parameters and effectively lead staff, ensuring compliance with WHS and other workplace legislation. Reporting to management and driving a culture of safety and best practice, our client is offering an impressive salary package, plus a car, family accommodation and bonuses. Your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Administration of animal husbandry
  • Supervision of feed management
  • Provide input for operational and maintenance budgets
  • Production optimisation through the review of performance data (mortality, weight, feed consumption)
  • Oversee irrigation and weed management programs
  • Manage maintenance program for vehicles, equipment, tools, buildings, silos and dwellings.
  • Stock handling
  • WHS training, risk assessments and incident reporting
  • Compliance audits
  • Committed to best practice and business improvement

 

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

With proven management experience and a minimum of five years working in the poultry sector (or similar), you'll come to us with a strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial drive - ready to meet organisational production and deliver incremental gains towards profitability and quality.

You'll be knowledgeable on the processes, infrastructure and demands of the industry and committed to the concepts, principles and practical applications of animal husbandry.

Self managing and proactive, you must have excellent leadership capabilities, a good working knowledge of WHS requirements and ensure all quality and maintenance standards are upheld. Able to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines, to be considered for the role, it's important you can address the following criteria:

  • Poultry experience with a qualification in agriculture/business (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in leading, managing and training a team
  • Effective stakeholder relationship engagement
  • Skilled in animal husbandry
  • Capable of working autonomously and with a diverse team
  • Strong computer skills - proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and able to deal with conflicting priorities
