Riverina Local Land Services are looking for a Biosecurity Officer to undertake field and regulatory activities for the management of animal and plant biosecurity for the Region, as well as undertake surveillance and investigation activities related to animal and plant health and disease control.
The role of Biosecurity Officer is for someone who loves being in the field and working with people and animals. Read this document to see what you’ll be doing on a day to day basis as a Biosecurity Officer, and also what you’ll need to have to be successful.
We are passionate about what we do, and if you share the same vision and drive, we want to work with you!
Working as a Biosecurity Officer, you’ll be in a role where lots of training is provided, and as such you’ll need to someone who’s willing and prepared to learn.
It’s a role which carries a lot of responsibility and you’ll need to be honest, reliable and trustworthy - someone who can build strong professional relationships with local farmers, land holders and businesses, so you can provide sound advice and apply appropriate regulations as they relate to pest animals, plant health and disease control.
You’ll need to be able to follow procedures and processes (especially as you’ll be handling dangerous substances and pesticides), and be able to balance your work in an environment which is technically complex and often unpredictable and where emergency situations may take priority over planned activities.
You’ll be a jack of all trades - as comfortable speaking to colleagues, contractors, clients and being in the field as you are with technology and completing paperwork and need to have basic project management and budgeting skills.
Whilst you don’t need to know everything required for the role now, you will need to be able to quickly develop and maintain a working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements related to pest animal management in NSW.
Why work for us?
- You’ll be in a role with significant importance, working on the plant and animal pests biosecurity front line.
- Internal support is on tap, with collaboration and cooperation across the region encouraged
- You’ll become part of an amazing, experienced, professional & friendly team, working with some of the best in the biosecurity field.
- You’ll be working for an organisation whose flexible work environment allows you to better manage your lifestyle and work commitments.
Want to work as a Biosecurity Officer but don’t live in Griffith? Not a problem – we still want to hear from you as a talent pool of other great candidates for future upcoming similar roles across the Riverina LLS region may also be created from this recruitment process.
Have we got you interested? Simply submit your resume and a cover letter outlining why this is the job for you. We will then get back in touch after the closing date with the next steps.
Closing Date: Monday 11th April 2022 @ 11:55pm
