On behalf of our client, one of the world's leading integrated energy companies, we are currently looking for a Biosecurity Advisor to join the HSE Quarantine & Environment Systems team.
This role will suit a recent graduate in environmental science, engineering or similar degree.
The Biosecurity Advisor will support the implementation of the Quarantine Management System (QMS) to support base business and project scopes. They will support the quarantine Non-Indigenous Species and Invasive Marine Pest (NIS and IMP) programs including associated third-party contracts as well as provide guidance, clarification, and support to ensure all activities are consistent with the requirements of the QMS.
Additionally, the Biosecurity Advisor will:
- Provide technical advice on the QMS to ensure compliance with Ministerial conditions and QMS requirements.
- Support QMS regulatory reporting and management of permits and licenses relating to quarantine activities.
- Support the assessment and reporting of performance of the QMS, including but not limited to investigations of incidents, management of response plans and species action plans.
- Support compliance and process assurance activities including coordination of regulatory audits of the QMS.
- Undertake verification and validation of quarantine safeguards as per the QMS including reporting of safeguard effectiveness.
- Assist with the process of identifying and developing solutions to drive improvement in quarantine
operational performance. - Travel to site to oversee / support the implementation of Quarantine programs.
- Support quarantine preparedness and response exercises for onsite management and coordination for quarantine response and eradication programs
- Support investigation of quarantine related incidents and procedural deviations
Requirements
- Tertiary degree in environmental science or related discipline or demonstrated experience working in a quarantine and/or biosecurity role.
- Demonstrated ability to build respectful and trusted relationships with a variety of stakeholders including site leaders and the broader workforce including frontline personnel and business partners.
- Experience in system processes and procedures
- Critical and lateral thinking and strong problem solving
- Proficient in data management including collection in the field and data analysis using Power BI and/ or Excel.
