The Role

Applications are invited from motivated individuals who want to work with laboratory animals, including rodents and zebrafish, in a medical research environment. We are seeking a full-time Bioresources Attendant or Bioresources Technician, commensurate on experience.

This is a busy role, requiring repetitive lifting and is ideally suited to an active, enthusiastic person. Duties common between the two roles includes cage and room hygiene, cage wash, preparation of materials for sterilisation, glassware, routine fish husbandry, routine mouse husbandry, and other duties as required.

The Bioresources Technician role will require more specialised tasks, including sample collection, breeding of mice and fish, routine maintenance of the aquarium and staff training.

In addition to the above, the Bioresources Technician will require:

  • Minimum 2 years working in a laboratory bioresources facility
  • Tertiary qualifications in animal science or technology (TAFE or university)
  • Demonstrated experience managing transgenic and knockout mouse breeding colonies
  • Experience in mouse biomethods including sample collection and administration of substances
  • Experience managing a zebrafish aquarium
