The Opportunity

Telethon Kids Institute is a health and medical research institute committed to discovering new and effective ways to enhance children’s health and wellbeing.
We have a unique opening for an enthusiastic team player to help our researchers by providing functional support within our bioresources and laboratory area.
This role will be based at Perth Children’s Hospital and will be offered as a full-time role for 3 years with possible extension.
The Role
The purpose of this position is to provide functional support to the research activities undertaken at the Bioresources Centre and Laboratories within the Telethon Kids Institute.
This position is physically demanding as it involves a range of manual tasks including routine cleaning and sterilisation of equipment, resources and facilities used in laboratory animal husbandry.
As a Bioresources & Laboratories Support Technician you will be responsible for:
- Cleaning and maintaining washrooms, laboratories, hallways and equipment including PPE stations, storage rooms, and procedure labs
- Ensure animal caging and laboratory glassware and water pouches are assembled, washed, cleaned and sterilised using appropriate equipment.
- Monitor, order and maintain stock levels for assigned areas including laboratories, PPE stations and storage areas.
- Deliver clean and sterile equipment to appropriate locations
- Maintains routine record keeping including wash and biological indicators
About You:
The ideal applicant will have previously worked in a laboratory or have hospital sterile services experience along with:
- Ability to positively engage with a range of people within the organisation
- Be a strong team player and work effectively in a small team
- Physical fitness and capability which will allow manual work
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
