About The Positions

Lecturer Biomedicine (18075) is a mixed research and teaching position based in Cairns. Part of the teaching role will be to support the roll out of the new medical curriculum starting in 2023 in Cairns and linked to the successful medical program already running in Townsville. Content will include most aspects of fundamental cell biology and physiology. The research activities connected to this role will be based in the AITHM, Cairns and can be focussed on a range of research topics relevant to infectious and emerging diseases.

Lecturer Molecular Genetics (18076) is a mixed research and teaching position based in Townsville, but also with access to the research facilities of the AITHM in Cairns. The teaching role will include fundamental aspects of genetics and molecular biology, as well as specialty subjects relating to genetics to final year and graduate students. For research activities we would prefer an individual using genetic model systems to explore fundamental aspects of cell biology and metabolism. This could link to existing programs using Drosophila as a tool and linking that to other insect models.

Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor, Microbiology (18077) is also a mixed research and teaching position based in Townsville. Teaching will include all aspects of microbiology to undergraduate students with more focussed specialty subjects relating to infectious disease. Research programs of interest ideally will link in with our current research efforts on tuberculosis and malaria, or other infectious disease models.

Senior Lecturer, Physiology (18078) is a mixed research and teaching position, with teaching expertise in respiratory physiology, both clinical and comparative. The research component of this position ideally will focus on the impact of infectious disease on respiratory function at a physiological level.

Lecturer, Biomedicine – 4yr fixed term contract (18079) is a teaching only position supporting the College’s Medical Laboratory Science program. Knowledge of haematology and microbiology are particularly desirable.

All positions will contribute to the growth and development, coordination, and delivery of the Biomedicine curriculum. You will deliver high-quality and modern teaching and will also play a major role in scholarship and graduate research activities.
