Based in Hamilton, our diagnostic laboratory is focused on actively supporting New Zealand Veterinarians and as part of the well-established SVS family business, we take pride in being 100% New Zealand owned and operated.
An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time Biochemistry Technician to join our experienced team. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, and every third Saturday morning.
About you
While all roles in the Laboratory are multi-disciplinary, initially this position primarily entails:
- Providing diagnostic Biochemistry/Trace Elements testing.
- Producing accurate, and timely results.
- Having a strong focus on quality outcomes and excellent customer service.
- Being well organised and having an eye for detail; and
- Being a strong team player.
To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience in handling and laboratory preparation of blood specimens.
- Experience working with Chemistry analysers (medical or veterinary background).
- The ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with respect to both veterinary diagnostic and laboratory issues.
- Previous work experience in a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
- The ability to develop good working relationships with veterinary clinicians.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- Have a sense of humour - while we take what we do very seriously, we also have a lot of fun together.
