Description
The department is in process of expanding its activities on data science, and the position is dedicated specifically to research in herd health with focus on technological and management solutions for herd health improvement.The main focus in the position is on applying quantitative methods to tools and management strategies with the focus of improving herd health and welfare, without jeopardizing productivity and climate.The work will consist of managing, modelling and utilizing traditional research data as well as big data such as measurements based on sensor technology, primarily in cattle, but also in other relevant farm animal species.The associate professor will in addition have to:
- be responsible for teaching and supervising students at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. A focus will be developing courses targeting herd health management in a veterinary education
- participate in providing research-based consultancy to authorities
- rise external funding
- participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry.
Your profile
- a solid biological background from veterinary or animal science
- a strong background in statistical modelling/quantitative analytical methods or herd health management and animal science combined with skills in data handling and data modelling
- a proven scientific track record within health research in intensive animal production systems and a thorough understanding of the interactions between productivity, management and health in commercial production systems
- knowledge about animal health economics as well as veterinary epidemiology will be an advantage.

The mission of ANIS is to perform basic, strategic as well as applied research and innovation within the department’s core activities: nutrition, health and welfare. The activities make up the science-based foundation of ANIS’ teaching, public sector consultancy and collaboration with business and industry.
