Job Description

The Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences is a key leadership role inthe OPCVM leadership team, coordinating with the administration,faculty, and staff of the college as well as external clinical partnersto ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical education. They serveas the administrative leader for the coordination of communitypartnerships, clinical sciences faculty affairs, and oversight of thedepartment of Clinical Relations and Outreach. The Associate Dean forClinical Sciences will work in conjunction with the Dean to ensure thatthe college's vision, strategic direction, and priorities areimplemented effectively.

 

Required Qualifications
* a veterinary medical degree from an accredited veterinary college or school
* three (3) years prior experience in an administrative role in veterinary medical college
* five (5) years of experience in a veterinary medical academic environment with an understanding of the academic environment and curriculum development
* a working knowledge of information systems and databases

Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree and/or specialty board certification, especially in education
* expertise in managing a complex budget and staff, faculty, and student workers

Job Duties

  • . Pre-Clinical Education: Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to oversee the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of clinical skills curriculum. Oversee the development and maintenance of educational models to support the clinical skills curriculum.
  • . Clinical Education: Provide support and oversight of the Clinical Relations and Outreach department through the Assistant Dean for Clinical Relations and Outreach.
  • . Community Resource Coordination: Ensure the efficient and ethical use of animal resources throughout all college departments. Foster collaboration among faculty, staff, students, and shelter stakeholders to ensure sustainable and effective partnerships.
  • . Operations Management: Manage the coordination of operations of the college's preclinical partners, ensuring high-quality patient care and educational outcomes in compliance with relevant policies and laws. Ensure effective use of resources, including facilities, equipment, and technology.
  • . Management of Faculty and Staff: Manage faculty and staff in the clinical sciences department, including recruitment, development, and evaluation.
  • . Budget Management: Oversee the financial performance of clinical sciences department, including budgeting, resource allocation, and cost management.
  • . Service and Research: Participate in departmental and university committees and activities. Facilitate collaborative research within the clinical sciences department.
  • . Accreditation Compliance: Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and facilitate accreditation processes and reporting.
  • . Perform other duties as assigned.
