Position Title: Assistant Professor of Veterinary Medicine
Department: DeBusk Vet Teaching Center
Position Category: Staff Full Time
Job Description:
The faculty member shall have the primary responsibilities of teaching, research/creative achievement and service functions and shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the College, and the Department. Teaching responsibilities will be equally distributed between the Veterinary Medical Technology Program and the Veterinary Health Science Program with potential for teaching in CVM professional and graduate programs. This position also includes assisting with the care and treatment of all animals required for research and teaching housed within the CVM facilities.
Required Qualifications:
DVM, VMD, BVMS, or equivalent degree from an AVMA-COE accredited university or LVT, RVT, CVT or equivalent degree from an AVMA-CVTEA accredited university plus completion of a graduate or professional degree within a veterinary related field of study;; in good professional standing and a minimum of three years clinical experience in various settings; *educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and *evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity

Job Duty:
- Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large;
- Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students;
- Undertake the “Standard Instructional/Research/Service Workload” as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual;
- Provide course and classroom conduct as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual;
- Comply with the university Faculty/Staff Policy Manual;
- Submit textbook requests;
- Comply with announced requirements;
- Engage in professional development;
- Assist the department chair with effective development and implementation of department’s Student Recruitment and Retention Plan, such as Homepage, Brochures, and student letters;
- Support and promote the university’s SEWS program within the curriculum ;
- Demonstrate current knowledge of content and assist with curricular revisions and changes as requested;
- Appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught;
- Develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student;
- Submit a current copy of each syllabus by a predetermined deadline;
- Evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline;;
- Assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested;
- Participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major;
- Establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the college, and the University;
- Submit his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university, school and department councils or committees ;
- Effectively advise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee;
- Explore career goals with each assigned advisee;
- Mentor majors through the research process;
- Fulfill the university’s scholarship expectation through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement;
- Participate in events that support the institution, the faculty, staff and students;
- Participate in commencement exercises;
- Participate in community and public service opportunities;
- Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings;
- Complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University;
- Supervise the student while the student learns the veterinary technology process as he/she acquires the knowledge, understanding and the entry-level skills required of a veterinary technician;
- Maintain records and evaluations of the students for the activities during the clinical experiences;
- Completion of required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University;
- Other duties as assigned
