Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000, dependent on qualifications.
Duration: This position follows a 12-month calendar year as this person will take part in the care of animals on site.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team member of the Equine Science department, eager to support the development of the next generation of Equine Science professionals.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Curriculum Development & Classroom Instruction
- Primary focus on Equine Rehabilitation and Breeding curriculum. This includes collaboration with the equine department to support the development and improvement of these program areas.
- Work with accounting to develop and maintain program budgeting.
- Hands-on experiential laboratory instruction is a key element in preparing students for industry positions. The successful candidate will work with area Instructional Support Assistants (ISAs) to create a robust, applied experience for their students.
- Other courses taught could include any aspect of the equine industry (both Associate's and Bachelor's level courses) as it relates to the successful candidate's areas of expertise.
- This person may supervise Instructional Support Assistants, and work to coordinate the summer internship program.
Equine Herd Management
- Assisting in daily veterinary care, health, and maintenance of horse herd - both college-owned and client-owned horses (50% of position duties).
- Involvement in establishing relationships with various equine professionals throughout the region and beyond.
- Recordkeeping, client relations, and potential industry contacts for new program animals.
Student Mentorship
- Provide guidance and support to students throughout their educational journey, including recruiting students to join our program, academic advising & retention, career counseling, supervision of student interns, and support student clubs.
- Foster a student-centered approach that emphasizes individual growth and prepares students for the challenges of Equine Science.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with current equine industry practices.
- Experience with equine rehabilitation and exercise physiology, and certified rehabilitation therapist (or equivalent credential).
- Some experience teaching or working as an instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certificates/credentials (train the trainer training) for various equine rehabilitation modalities (e.g., Aquatics therapy, Treadmills, Magnawave, Equine Chiropractor).
- Breeding experience in Stallion and/or Broodmare management
- Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills.
