Assistant Professor / Associate Professor in Veterinary Education
The Department wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor (Grade 9) or Associate Professor (Grade 10) in Veterinary Education, with effect from 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.The purpose of the role is to provide to provide academic leadership as champion of the delivery and assessment of clinical skills and a clinical service in an area of first opinion or referral practice. The Pauline Brown Clinical Skills Centre delivers structured practical skills teaching and learning opportunities through simulations and with live animals, and assesses these practical skills by means of Observed Subjective Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and engages in writing/selecting Directly Observed Procedural Skills (DOPS). You will be a key member of the Clinical Skills team of four, comprising this role and three permanent professional services roles, who engage with large and small animal clinical skills teaching.You will be expected to achieve (as part of your professional development) a national and international profile in veterinary education and research, clinical excellence, and to contribute to the Department's Research Excellence framework submission. Your research may be within the area of clinical interest or within the pedagogical field.You must be MRCVS; hold a Diploma of a European College or equivalent, or relevant clinical Certificate; hold further qualifications in teaching (in progress or completed). It is desirable that you have a PhD.You should demonstrate a commitment to participate in an area of the Department's clinical services (first opinion or referral); have documented experience in clinical teaching in your discipline; a proven track record in grant-funded research, clinically-relevant research and peer-reviewed publications; and proven leadership, people management and team-working skills.Click the 'Apply' button below to register an account with our recruitment system (if you have not already) and apply online.Interviews will be held: 26 May 2023
