Position Highlights

The University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine (UA-CVM), located in Oro Valley, Arizona, invites applications for a faculty position with a primary focus on clinical course management and clinical affiliate relationships. We are seeking a veterinarian with clinical experience and academic experience (preferred) to assist in managing and developing clinical course rotations and oversee clinical affiliate relationships in the Phoenix area. This person will serve as co-course director for all clinical rotation courses and will participate in the management of clinical rotation courses. This person will serve as the clinical affiliate liaison in the greater Phoenix area. They will also be involved in virtual student mentorship.

This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in management and development of clinical rotation courses.
  • Work with the other Clinical Relations Lead Veterinarian as co-course director in managing clinical rotation courses.
  • Participate in all activities of the Clinical Relations team, including student training and orientation.
  • Serve as the liaison for the University of Arizona CVM clinical affiliate partners in the greater Phoenix area, with duties including but not limited to recruitment, training, and assessment of facilities.
  • Requirement for local travel around greater Phoenix area, infrequent travel to Oro Valley and Tucson campus, and other travel for in-person activities/meetings.
  • Participate in mentoring students during clinical rotations and work closely with all Clinical Year mentor faculty, serving as the liaison between the Clinical Year mentors and the Clinical Year team.
  • Assist in the training and oversight of assigned Clinical Year mentors.
  • Participate in committees (College and/or University).
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Clinical Relations.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings of personnel assigned to the Clinical Relations and Outreach team.
  • Engage in the CVM collegial community, the university community, and the larger global academic community through participation in shared governance, advisory committees, and academic/professional society meetings.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • DVM degree (or international equivalent)
  • At least five years of clinical experience in small animal and/or large animal medicine.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least eight years clinical practice experience.
  • Experience mentoring students, with a preference on mentoring veterinary students.
  • Prior experience in an academic veterinary teaching institution.
