Description
The Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-CVM) in Brookville, New York, invites applications from self-directed, innovative and motivated individuals for a full-time, clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position in large animal medicine. The position may be filled as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be engaged in the College’s educational, research and service activities. Primary responsibilities will include clinical and didactic teaching in production animal medicine and surgery and or equine medicine. No clinical duty is expected but there may be opportunities with affiliate practices. The successful candidate is expected to promote LIU-CVM’s overall mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through a commitment to teaching, academic excellence, and service to a variety of stakeholders.
Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) is expected of both clinical and tenure track faculty. All tenure track faculty contribute to the overall research and scholarly goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine and are expected to develop independent or collaborative research in the field of large animal medicine within and outside LIU, which may include working with LIU-CVM partners/affiliate veterinary hospitals.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a DVM or equivalent degree, and expertise in large animal medicine. Specialty board certification/eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM LA) or equivalent is preferred. Advanced training in either production animal medicine and surgery or equine medicine or both. Large animal research with an MS or PhD is preferred. The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of curricular design and implementation. S/he/they will have the proven ability to promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness and will interact well with University administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, students, and alumni.

About The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University:
LIU-CVM received a Provisional Accreditation by the AVMA- Council on Education on March, 2020 and admitted the inaugural class in the Fall of 2020. Currently, with over fifty off-campus affiliate sites, LIU CVM will utilize a distributed model of clinical education.
