Position Summary:

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University seeks applications for a 12-month tenure-track or 12-month non-tenure track Assistant, Associate, Full Professor in Dermatology. This position will be housed in the Department of Clinical Sciences located on the Veterinary Health Campus of Colorado State University. The dermatology service at the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides diagnosis and treatment for skin and ear disease in many species including dogs, cats, horses, llamas, alpacas, cows, swine, and exotic animals. The Dermatology service has high-quality facilities, a strong clinical case load, and a great support team.

The Department recognizes that there is a need for an additional faculty to sustain clinical excellence and teaching programs, and for development of new knowledge so has created the currently advertised position. The language is intentionally broad to allow for maximum flexibility in meeting the selected candidate’s professional interests upon hire. The James L Voss Veterinary Teaching hospital is pleased to announce a new dermatology area  completed in January 2021. The new dermatology wing includes three dedicated examination rooms with state-of the art Stortz Video otoscopes and hydraulic tables, a dedicated rounds room, procedures and cytology room, otoscopy suite and infectious disease room with external entryway.

Description of Work Unit:
The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.
Required Job Qualifications:
Assistant Professor – Non-tenure track
The approximate commitment to clinical responsibilities will range from 28 – 34 weeks.
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Board certified or eligible for certification in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)
Assistant Professor – Tenure track
  • The approximate commitment to clinical responsibilities will range from 18 – 22 weeks.
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Board certified or eligible for certification in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD).
  • MS or PhD or relevant research experience.
Associate Professor – Non-tenure track
The approximate commitment to clinical responsibilities will range from 28 – 34 weeks.
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)
  • 5 years of experience at the Assistant Professor rank or equivalent
Associate Professor – Tenure track
The approximate commitment to clinical responsibilities will range from 18 – 26 weeks.
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)
  • MS or PhD with evidence of maintaining a nationally recognized research program.
Full Professor – Non-tenure track
The approximate commitment to clinical responsibilities will range from 28 – 34 weeks.
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree
  • Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)
  • 5 years of experience at the Associate Professor rank or equivalent
Full Professor – Tenure track

Proposed Annual Salary Range:
Salary is commensurate with experience. Typical range is Assistant Professor - $115,000 - $130,000 Associate Professor - $135,000 - $150,000 Full Professor- $155,000-$165,000
