With a reporting line to the Director: Research and Innovation Services, the Animal Welfare Officer plays a key role in providing leadership, strategic advice and policy direction to University Management about the care, use and welfare of animals in teaching and research to ensure the University’s compliance with Commonwealth and State legislation and regulations and best practice.
Working closely with researchers, the staff of the Core Animal Facility, and UniSA’s Research Integrity team you will be required to provide specialist advice and support in all matters relating to animal welfare in research and teaching. This includes matters relevant to biosecurity and the maintenance of animal health status; and providing leadership in promoting the objectives of the “3 Rs” (replacement, reduction and refinement) of animal use.
Skills and Experience

If so, this would be a great opportunity for you.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills are required in this position as you will be providing advice, guidance and training to the University community to ensure individuals are effectively educated in all aspects of animal welfare.
It is essential that you have the ability to obtain a permit for the acquisition, holding and supply of scheduled drugs.
