ANIMAL WELFARE OFFICER

Cordina Chicken Farms are part of an Australian owned family business with over 70 years' experience in the poultry industry. From our modern offices located at Girraween (NSW) we process, prepare and distribute chicken meat products.

An excellent opportunity currently exists for an Animal Welfare Officer to join the Cordina Quality team at the Girraween site in a full time capacity.

 

The Animal Welfare Officer is responsible for the inspection of the slaughter operations of the site to ensure that compliance with the animal welfare and handling requirements of RSPCA Australia, NSWFA and Customers' standards are adhered to.  Requirements of the role include, but are not limited to;

  • Understand and articulate the regulatory and technical issues associated with animal welfare
  • Provide recommendations to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Quality Assurance (QA) documentation as they relate to procedures impacting on animal welfare
  • Review, as part of the duties, the results of the routine monitoring of procedures impacting on animal welfare
  • Review the results of internal and external audits to assess the performance of the company in relation to animal welfare
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Implement animal welfare assessment criteria and perform an abattoir animal welfare assessment.

  • Ability to show initiative with all tasks to be completed
  • Enthusiastic with a can-do attitude

 

Applicants with a TAFE or University Graduate in Food Science, Chemistry or Medical Science degree or relevant industry experience in the Poultry Processing industry and Food Manufacturing industry will be highly regarded.
