About the role
We are seeking an Animal Welfare Inspector to join our very busy team. This is a hands on, compliance role working with animals and members of the public. You will spend a large portion of your time split between driving, engaging with people and maintaining accurate notes and records so advanced skills in these areas would be an advantage. You will be an integral part of our Inspectorate team who, everyday, provide a response to welfare concerns, provide guidance and education in the community, complete routine welfare checks and conduct investigations into animal welfare offending achieving a variety of compliance outcomes including prosecution. The role is varied, challenging and rewarding.
What we need from you
Our ideal candidate will:
· Hold and maintain a full clean, driver’s license.
· Ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.
· Experience towing vehicles is desirable.
· Have excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to handle conflict situations and a friendly and positive attitude.
· Be a quick thinker who is skilled at multi-tasking.
· Have practical animal-handling experience and knowledge.
· Have a flexible approach to the hours of work, and be able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads.
· Have excellent computer skills
· Demonstrate empathy and resilience.
· Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and must have a love for working with both people and animals
- Have an interest in animal welfare and improving animal welfare
- Have an interest in the enforcement and investigation of the Animal Welfare Act 1999
- Eager and willing to learn on the job
