Baiada is seeking to fill the position of Animal Welfare & BioSecurity Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and implementing animal welfare and biosecurity practices within the business at all operational levels to ensure the health and wellbeing of our livestock and prevent the spread of diseases.

 

Key responsibilities: (but not limited to):

  • Develop, implement, and monitor animal welfare policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Management, plan and conduct regular inspections and audits of animal welfare practices across all poultry facilities to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
  • Design and implement biosecurity standards, policies and procedures to safeguard our poultry livestock from diseases and external threats.
  • Collaborate with the Livestock General Manager, Chief Operations Manager and company veterinarians and other department /site heads to integrate animal welfare and biosecurity practices into daily operations.
  • Manage and identify any risks to the animal welfare and biosecurity of our livestock.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff members on animal welfare, biosecurity best practices, auditing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key interest groups, customers and regulatory bodies to ensure best practice, compliance and ensure the business is well placed to manage risk, capitalise on opportunities and stay ahead of any industry and regulatory developments.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health, welfare, and biosecurity measures for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Report, investigate, and implement corrective actions for breaches of standards, legislation, policies and procedures in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, changes, regulations, and best practices related to animal welfare and biosecurity.
  • Drive best practice and continue to develop a positive animal welfare and biosecurity culture business wide through strong animal welfare and biosecurity protocols, strong relationships and communications, innovation and engagement.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or related field. (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, quality assurance, or poultry sector.
  • Strong understanding of animal welfare regulations and biosecurity protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams with the ability to drive initiatives forward.
  • Lead auditor certification and experience in development and conducting audits.
