Your role in our future.

 

Our Cancer Research Division is currently seeking a full time Animal Technician to join our multi-disciplinary and dynamic Animal Facility Core. The position is a 12 month fixed term full time contract, which will also require the successful candidate to participate in weekend and public holiday rosters.

The principle responsibilities of this position are animal husbandry, colony management and record keeping. The position works closely with other animal technicians as well as research staff and students. You will support the team leader and manager on issues of compliance, animal welfare and assist with the daily activities and maintenance of the facility.

The successful applicant will need to possess and demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
• Commitment to ethical treatment of animals
• Good communication, organisation and teamwork skills
• High level of reliability

The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of compliance regulations including POCTA Act, AQIS, PC2 & OGTR and Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.

It is desirable for the successful candidate to have completed a Diploma of Applied Science – Animal Technology or equivalent, and experience in colony management, including transgenic and knockout lines.
