About the Position

We are looking for casual Animal Technician(s) to support activities at the UQ Pinjarra Hills Farm and/or MERF. Assistance is required on most weekends and during some weekdays, depending on workload and as negotiated with the candidates.

This position would most likely suit people living locally in the Pinjarra Hills area.

This position reports to the BRF Coordinator for supervision and workload management.

Selection Criteria for Position

1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to a trades certificate, or completion of year 12 with relevant work experience.

2. Demonstrated experience in the care and husbandry of farm and/or research animals.

3. Commitment to the ethical treatment of animals.

4. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to work effectively as a team member to complete work tasks.

5. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, work in a safe manner in association with provided instruction and maintain records with a high degree of accuracy.

6. Ability to meet physical requirements of the position (i.e., lift/move/carry weights of up to 12kg on a regular basis, and up to 25-30kg occasionally).
