The casual Animal Technician will perform duties that provide care, husbandry, welfare monitoring and oversight to animalsand will undertake technical and material support duties that support research and facility operations.

What you will be doing:

• Provide animal care, husbandry, colony management activities, monitoring and record keeping
• Undertake duties that support operations including material support activities which may include inventory management, animal transport and washroom duties
• Use your training and experience of animals in the research setting to provide assessment and advice that assures animals wellbeing
• Perform duties that support researchers in undertaking research programs involving animals.

About you

You are an Animal Technician with experience in the research setting and have a commitment to the care and wellbeing of animals. You enjoy working as part of a team to achieve a consistently high standard of animal care and research support. You have high attention to detail, are organised, motivated and communicate well. You enjoy working with others, foster a cohesive team environment and build trust in your relationships with colleagues and stakeholders alike.

You have:

• Training and/or experience in Animal Technology or equivalent
• You have hands-on experience in the animal research setting which may include the care and management of genetically modified rodent colonies, welfare monitoring of animals, and conduct of technical procedures involving laboratory animals.
• You have a high level of expertise in skills performed routinely by Animal Technicians and are keen to further develop your skills and knowledge in the field.
• You hold or are willing to obtain an employee Working With Children Check
