ANIMAL STUDIES TEACHER - CASUAL

  • Based in Fairfield 

 

About the Role:

We have a vacancy for a Casual Teacher to join the Agriculture and Animal Studies Department and teach  courses, organise and deliver theory, practical, flexible and field based classes in specialist Animal Studies subject areas including animal health, basic care of animals, breeding procedures, monitoring animal health and wellbeing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach approved recurrent and industry programs including Veterinary Nursing, Animal Studies, Companion Animal Services and Diploma of Animal Technology
  • Liaise with other staff, industry personnel and employers
  • Identify requirements for staff development and participating in staff development activities
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Animal Studies programs
  • Participate in activities related to the delivery of programs, ie. Field trips
  • Provide interim and annual reports of student results
  • Selecting and assessment of intending students
  • Implementing new technologies within the department
  • Identify resource requirements

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A Degree, Diploma or Certificate relevant in both content and academic level and industry experience relevant to the Animal Care and management Industry.
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Ability to take a role in the effective operation and co-ordination of Animal Studies courses
  • Ability to teach and facilitate delivery of specialist Animal Care subjects and related courses to groups which may have a diverse range of abilities, backgrounds, and readiness. Ability to use a variety of teaching modes and materials including flexible, online, blended and field based delivery.
  • A thorough knowledge of current industry practices and procedures with a demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain liaisons within the Animal Care Industry
  • Ability to co-operate in a team environment and, where necessary, work effectively with minimum supervision

Payment is in the rate of:

$82.00 per hour for Casual Teaching -Certificate IV qualified
$85.00 per hour for Casual Teaching-Diploma or equivalent (AQF5) teacher training qualified.
$88.59 per hour for Casual Teaching-AQF6 teacher training qualified
