THE OPPORTUNITY

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the Dubbo City Animal Shelter, including the management of a team of Animal Attendants and the daily care and cleaning of animals and their pens.

You will have the opportunity to engage with Community groups to deliver education programs on the care and welfare of pets.

The successful candidate will also play a key role in the project currently being undertaken to build a brand new, modern animal shelter facility.

 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO

  • Manage the care of Animals at the shelter, including the daily cleaning requirements of the centre;
  • Supervise and assist the animal shelter team on a day to day basis;
  • Enforce animal control measures in accordance with legislation;
  • Liaise with members of the Public and the greater community;
  • Develop and implement community education programs; and
  • Liaise with Adoption Groups.

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • Certificate III level qualification in Companion Animal, Business, Administration or Management fields, or experience commensurate to the qualification;
  • Demonstrated  supervisory experience;
  • Previous experience working in companion animal care or control;
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and administration skills, including databases and cash handling;
  • Customer Service experience and high level communication and conflict resolution skills; and
  • Experience in developing/reviewing policies, procedures, including Work Health and Safety Systems and practices.

 

ABOUT YOU

You will have highly developed interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be a hands on leader, providing effective management of the shelter, whilst assisting your team with the daily functions of the shelter.

Additionally, you will possess a high level of attention to detail in the provision of a well maintained facility, and excellent time management skills.

You will be a team player who continually shows positive leadership and looks for positive ways to contribute to team culture.
