A bit about the role

The Animal Management Support Officer will provide operational support to the Animal Management Unit and Pound staff in meeting its obligations under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and the Units Domestic Animal Management Plan.

What you’ll do

• Assist in the daily collection of animals within the Wyndham City Council
• Provide advice to residents, stakeholders and pet owners on responsible pet ownership
• Assist in maintaining councils pound facilities and animals in accordance with relevant Codes of Practice
• Conduct proactive patrols of beaches, paths and open spaces
• Participate in the animal Afterhours emergency service

What you’ll bring

• Demonstrated Animal Handling skills
• Strong commitment to quality, detail, deadlines and customer service
• Current Victorian driver’s licence (experience driving larger vans is highly desirable)
• Workplace training or certificates in Animal Handling and/or husbandry (highly desirable)
• Competency with computers and different computer programs
• A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
