Are you experienced in working with animals and passionate about animal welfare and looking for an opportunity to work in a dynamic working environment?
Position Overview: This exciting position is primarily responsible for assisting in the operations of Council’s Animal Management Facility involving release and impounding animals, administration tasks, finance management and data entry required under the Companion Animal Act.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enforce public safety through planned and proactive patrols for roaming animals posing a threat to public safety and conducting dog attack investigations, compliance inspections, barking dog reports, investigating restricted breeds, and nuisance cat issues.
Participation in after-hours animal management service roster is required for this role.
Who we are looking for: Council is seeking an individual who is passionate about animals with qualifications and/or relevant working experience in animal control or management. The successful candidate will be proficient in conflict resolution, effective time management and confident in handling various types of animals of various sizes.
Working with us: The successful candidate will be joining Council during an exciting stage of significant economic development with numerous projects planned and ongoing in Queanbeyan-Palerang. The successful candidate will enjoy the numerous learning and development opportunities available to our staff along with various health and wellbeing programs. Our Animal Management Officers also participate in a 9-day fortnight with inclusive of a rostered day off (RDO).
