About You 

With your previous experience in working with specialised imaging and laboratory equipment, your technical expertise will support the Core Animal Facility (CAF) in contributing to important research across South Australia. You have WHS at the forefront, with confidence to communicate instructions and scientific results to a range of stakeholders. You have a strong focus on providing an exceptional customer experience, as well contributing to a collaborative team culture.

About the Role
You will support research activities through the operation and hands-on maintenance of Ionising Radiation Apparatus and specialised imaging/scanning equipment housed within the facility.
You will also provide information, training, induction and technical support and/or guidance to UniSA staff, students and external users of the CAF, on the operation and maintenance of this equipment. In addition, you will support the Training & Compliance Officer & Research Supervisor in laboratory animal related duties.

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • A post-secondary qualification, or demonstrated equivalent industrial experience, in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. science/imaging/IT/optics) with recent hands-on experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more technical disciplines in scanning/imaging operations, including a range of testing and sample preparation techniques
  • Relevant experience in designing, developing and delivering induction programs for the use of equipment such as Ionising Radiation Apparatus and specialised imaging/scanning equipment housed within the facility
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the maintenance and repair of specialised imaging /scanning and associated laboratory equipment
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a laboratory animal care environment within the requirements of AEC approved animal ethics projects and biosafety requirements

In addition, a current (or ability to obtain) EPA Radiation licence to operate a Small Animal & Cell Irradiator, other Ionising Radiation Apparatus and recent experience of handling radiation sources is required.
