ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Animal Health Surveillance Coordinator with Animal Health Australia (AHA) you will play a key role within a small dynamic team to coordinate animal health surveillance project activities. These activities include data management, planning, reporting, and assisting with budgets. You will liaise with our stakeholders which include government departments, livestock industries and animal health professionals.
As a member of the Animal Health and SurveillanceTeam, the Coordinator will be responsible for working with leaders and colleagues to coordinate activities such as planning, budgets, policies, procedures, reporting and stakeholder engagement, and generate impact by successfully implementing animal health and surveillance projects and activities. The successful candidate will play an integral part of a dynamic team, working under the direction of the Head of Program, Animal Health, Surveillance and Monitoring.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Supporting the development, delivery, administration and maintenance of Animal Health and Surveillance project activities.
- Working collaboratively and innovatively with internal and external stakeholders on a range of surveillance projects.
- Communicating and liaising effectively with AHA staff and member organisations, partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrating AHA values in their daily approach to work and interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Total remuneration for this position is from $75,000+ (including super) and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s level of experience.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in agricultural, animal, or veterinary science
- A working knowledge of the Australian livestock sector through work experience and/or exposure via placements
- Sound data management, analytical and report writing skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to show initiative, flexibility, and work on multiple priorities in parallel to meet varying deadlines
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to distil complex scientific information into plain English suitable for a non-technical audience
- Fluency and expertise with contemporary office software applications, internet communication tools and database administration
- Commitment to deliver excellent customer service.
Desirable
- Sound knowledge of national livestock health and disease surveillance programs and policies
- High level scientific data analysis, including visualisation of data, and experience in writing technical reports and program plans, applying epidemiological principles
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder negotiations, presentations, active listening and the giving and receiving of constructive feedback
- Demonstrated ability to collaborative and engage within a team to successfully deliver results within agreed timeframes and budgets
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks within the company and with members and key stakeholders
- Experience in working with and facilitating diverse groups
- Project management skills and experience, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Experience in financial and budget management
- Experience in independently managing projects/programs
- Emerging leadership capabilities
