We have an exciting opportunity for two Animal Health Officers to be part of our Biosecurity Division within PIRSA. The roles report to the Manager of Field Operations
Are you keen for a new challenge? Are you interested in animal health issues and emergency animal disease preparedness, and want to develop your skills in these areas? Do you want to help South Australia prepare to respond to emergency animal diseases?
We are looking for two Animal Health Officers to join our Field Operations team, working on emergency animal disease preparedness and awareness.
This is an opportunity to be part of a supportive, friendly regionally based team, in either the Northern or Southern region of the state.
The role is open to new or recent graduates, through to those with any level of experience in this field. We are looking for someone with great communication skills, who enjoys working with livestock farmers and livestock industry representatives. So, if you’re passionate about a career in animal health, are prepared to be regionally located and want to work within the livestock industry across a broad and diverse region, this may well be the career for you.
What you’ll be working on:
There are two positions on offer across both the Northern and Southern region of the state. Location will be flexible by negotiation, as we have multiple regionally based offices across South Australia.
You will work with the district officers in your region to enhance industry awareness of Emergency Animal Diseases and assist all stakeholders in the industry prepare for an Emergency Animal Disease response.
There will be a significant amount of travel across your region, and you will be supported by regional Veterinary Officers. You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in other areas of PIRSA Animal Health on various tasks and projects that occur within your region.

- You will be passionate about supporting the livestock industry and providing education and awareness in the field of Emergency Animal Disease Preparedness.
- You enjoy living and working in regional South Australia.
- You will possess sound communication skill and be able to communicate effectively with a broad audience.
What you will need:
- The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.

Special Conditions
Applicants must be prepared to work outdoors with multiple livestock species and have a level of physical capability to handle livestock and livestock handling equipment.
Requirements
Applicants must have a Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science of equivalent
Applicants must have a driver’s licence
