Strategically located on the Liverpool Plains of NSW, one hour west of Tamworth, JBS Australia’s Caroona Feedlot employs approximately 35 people and includes a dryland and irrigation farming operation. With a licensed capacity of 28,000 head, access to an extensive network of quality cattle and ideally placed between the Riverina & Beef City plants, Caroona is a vital asset in the supply of grain fed cattle for both the JBS Queensland and New South Wales based processing facilities. The farm supplies the grain, silage and hay required for the cattle in the feedlot.

 

About the Role

Our JBS Caroona Feedlot is currently recruiting an experienced Animal Health Foreperson to join our Animal Health team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Livestock Manager, this role would best suit someone who has a genuine passion for the overall care and welfare of animals and is ideal for anyone looking to develop and progress their career within an industry leading organisation.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the Animal Health team in conjunction with the Livestock Supervisor
  • Overseeing the daily supervision of livestock handling including pen riding, low-stress livestock handling, hospital treatments, post-mortems and preparation of cattle ready for dispatch
  • Comprehensive diagnosis of animal health symptoms across all feeding types
  • Administration and accurate record keeping of animal health treatments in line with JBS treatment protocols
  • Inventory management including calibration, auditing and stocktaking
  • Ensuring team compliance with JBS Australia policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, QA, animal welfare & environmental obligations

 

About You

  • Previous experience managing and coordinating animal health and the associated performance of these teams advantageous
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
  • Strong commitment and dedication to the welfare of livestock
  • Proficient computer and record keeping skills
  • Proven horsemanship skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • High levels of self-motivation
  • Strong planning capabilities
