Hamilton City Council is looking for an Animal Education and Control Officer to work within the Animal Education and Control team.
This is a dynamic and challenging role with no two days being the same. In this role, you will meet and work with a wide cross section of Hamilton City’s dog owners and members of the public.
You will be responsible for undertaking investigations into complaints relating to Dog Control, providing education to dog owners, and taking enforcement action when required.
You will also provide specialist skills in handling aggressive and dangerous dogs and stock impounding.
The role sometimes works alongside other agencies such as the NZ Police or SPCA in matters of public safety and animal welfare.
To be successful in this role you will need to be physically fit, resilient, and able to interpret legislation and think on your feet. You will work as part of a team but will also work on your own much of the time.
The nature of this work is rostered as 120 hours across 3 weeks, with ten hour working days. As such you would need to be available to work as rostered Monday to Sunday, as well as on-call work.
The recruiting range for this role starts at $58,000 per annum, and could be negotiated for the right candidate.

This is your chance to be part of an organisation that is committed to building a more vibrant, attractive and prosperous city.
