About the position: 

We are looking for people who have an interest in animal handling (dogs, cats and livestock) in a regulatory role that also has excellent customer service skills. These positions are responsible for educating and regulating the community when it comes to responsible pet ownership, animal control in public places including our foreshore and beaches and investigating more serious matters such as aggressive dogs and dog attacks.

On an average day you may be:

  • Attending to stray roaming dogs or livestock and either returning the animal home or impounding the animal.
  • Undertaking investigations that relate to nuisance barking dogs and dog attacks.
  • Undertaking appropriate regulatory action when offences are committed under the Companion Animals Act 1998, such as issuing fines and/or relevant Orders.
  • Carrying out proactive patrols of the beach and foreshore areas within the Local Government Area to ensure that dog owners are complying with the rules in these areas.
