Description

Our DON Farms business, together with our new leadership team, has been through a transformation over the past couple of years with further sights to develop and grow! We produce quality pork for DON products and our key focus at DON Farms is on safety, animal welfare and environmentally sustainable farming practices. We have goals to continue developing our people, opening pathways for future opportunities.

We are currently seeking applications for an Animal Care Technician to join our team on a permanent Full-time basis, Casual or Weekends. Our Australian owned farm is continuously growing, therefore opening pathways for future opportunities! Our Technicians report to the Site Leaders and our farms are located in Loddon Shire (40 mins from Bendigo) and Shire of Campaspe (30 mins from Shepparton).

In this role you will support the team in a combination of duties related to the running of the breeding & farrowing or grower sites, including but not limited to:

  • Tending to routine animal husbandry,
  • Assisting with farrowing (birth),
  • Cleaning and maintaining accommodation pens, fittings and equipment,
  • Handling and using chemicals
  • Operating machinery and equipment.
  • Caring for the animals including providing feed and water stock,
  • Caring for sick or injured stock and maintain herd health status at an acceptable level.

Safety is a key focus of the site, you will be required to adhere to quarantine control procedures and abide by and promote all safety procedures and regulations across the piggery.

To be successful in this role, experience in animal/ stock handling is desirable but not essential.  You will also have:

  • High regard of OH&S and animal safety
  • Able to cope with physical demands of the role
  • Willingness to work some weekends and public holidays
  • A certificate in Agriculture would be advantageous
