About the role
Supporting the Animal Care Coordinator and Inspectors by providing attentive animal husbandry and relative administration behind the scenes. Your collaborative and respectful approach will contribute to the smooth flow and function of both the foster and adoption program and the inspectorate, reflecting our commitment to the well-being of animals under our care.
- Undertake animal husbandry duties including the implementation of behavioural initiatives and assessments.
- Transport animals between RSPCA locations and approved facilities as required.
- Implementing low stress handing across the RSCPA animals and their living and travel environments.
- Maintaining communication with various stakeholders about behaviour and medical updates on animals in care.
- Work across other sites as required, including assisting inspectors and the animal ambulance in the field.
- Undertake activities to support the effective running of the foster care program and offsite adoption programs within the region as required.
- Undertake general administrative duties to support the various team initiatives within the region as required. A high standard is required around data entry and maintaining accurate records as this may be used as evidence during the course of welfare investigations.
Who are we looking for?
- Open driver’s license is essential.
- Vet Nursing degree would be highly regarded but not essential.
- Proven domestic animal handling experience including administering medication.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with an ability to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Genuine interest in animal welfare and the objectives of RSPCA Qld.
- Ability to perform physical duties including manual handling, and an ability to handle a minimum weight of 10 kilos.
This is a part-time time position, working 16 hours per week, noting weekend work will be required. Remuneration is as per the RSPCA Qld Enterprise Agreement for Shelter Staff - Level 2, with a starting pay rate of $25.11 per hour + super (junior rates apply).
