Description

Animal Care Operations Analyst

RSPCA South Australia is a community based charity with a clear Vision to shape a compassionate society free of animal cruelty and suffering. RSPCA has strong brand awareness and an outstanding reputation for rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals.

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical capabilities to help us pro-actively identify trends impacting the number of animals in our care and improve our processes to help get animals into their forever homes faster.

You’ll be mining our shelter management system and analysing the data for clues regarding bottle-necks in our processes, and then using these insights to work with our animal care teams to make improvements.

You’ll also be reviewing our data for indications of external factors influencing our incoming animal numbers, digging deeper to identify the root causes, and reporting your findings to the senior management team. You will have the opportunity to make the role your own as the role, and the organisation, evolves.

Aptitude and attitude are more important than experience, but degree-level qualification (or equivalent level experience) in a relevant analytical subject is essential. We’re ideally looking for someone with at least a basic knowledge of Lean principles, but this can be taught

Please note that given the hands-on nature of this role, it is expected that the successful candidate will need to be based on site at our Lonsdale animal care centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  include

  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends, insights and patterns and develop and provide various reports, data visualisations, and dashboards.
  • Use data analytics to develop insights and make recommendations.
  • Pro-actively investigate identified exceptions and trends, then develop feasible solution scope to be developed.
  • Based on the findings from Data Analysis; assess and document the current state of business to identify and recommend improvements.
  • Be ‘hands on’ in converting the business needs into functional designs and lead business stakeholders towards functional design decisions.
  • Facilitate, support and work as part of teams to deliver identified process improvement projects.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

To be successful in this role you will have exceptional natural leadership ability and a drive to deliver innovative solutions. You will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be flexible and adaptable. Your collaborative style is a natural strength, as is your business acumen and understanding of organisational issues and challenges.

In addition, you will encompass the following:

  • Degree level qualification relating to business analytics or business intelligence, or equivalent industry experience is essential. Prior knowledge or experience of using Process Improvement techniques is not required but will be highly regarded.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience.
  • Previous experience with Power BI highly desirable.
  • Proven ability of data analysis and interpretation and the ability to analyse data sets to provide insights to an organisation.
  • Proven ability in providing complex statistical reports from available data sources.
  • Knowledge of how to maintain a database including data quality, assurance, control and integrity.
