The Animal Welfare League of QLD (AWLQ) operates one of the largest Rehoming Centres in Australia and cares for over 10,000 animals each year. With over 180 employees, AWLQ is leading the way in animal welfare practice.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and cleaning of animal housing
  • Providing a high standard of animal care and welfare
  • Conduction behaviour assessment and implement individualised behaviour management plans for animals
  • Implementing and following enrichment/training plans for animals
  • Assisting customers with adoptions, providing best match recommendations and conducting meet and greets
  • Data entry and management of animal and customer records
  • Strong Customer Service
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability with quarantine and disease management procedures in an animal facility
  • Assisting with the daily movement of animals from intake through to adoption

 

The successful candidate will meet the following selection criteria:

  • Essential – 2+ year’s previous animal industry experience 
  • Essential – Experience working with Dogs and Cats with experience in behaviour
  • Confident dog and cat handling abilities
  • Essential – Computer literacy
  • Essential – Customer Service experience
  • Highly desired– recognised Qualification in Animal behaviour or training
  • Highly Desired –Qualification in Companion Animals
  • Be able to work a 7 day roster – including weekends and public holidays.

 

Hours are expected to average between 25-34 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge in dog and/or cat behaviour, will be experienced with appropriate animal management and behaviour assessment in a professional environment.
