Evolution Early Learning Mooloolaba is seeking an experienced animal care attendant to join our team. We require experienced individuals with a passion for sustainable living and embedding our environmental philosophies with demonstrated skills in the care of a variety of species.
Evolution Early Learning is purpose built, 4 level state of the art early learning centre, featuring over 14 individual animal enclosures.
We hold a Educational purpose permit to house wildlife and run an educational animal care program, where children have the ability to be part of the daily care of our resident animals.
The successful applicant will require a calm gentle nature and an ability to positively work and interact with young children to enhance their learning experiences.
- Previous experience with reptiles necessary (advanced reptile species a plus.)
- Previous aquarium experience preferred, particularly in marine.
- Previous bird experience preferred.
- Able to maintain a high level of cleanliness and keep animal enclosure displays presented to a high standard.
- Able to perform basic exhibit maintenance as required.
- Ability to provide daily educational sessions with children while undertaking animal care and exhibit maintenance.
- Excellent observation skills particularly in regard to individual animal health and wellbeing.
- Good communication skills and able to maintain daily written animal records.
- Good organisation and time management skills + ability to think for yourself and problem solve.
- Good with children + able to calmly control interactive experiences between animals and children.
- Keen interest in providing animal conservation and care related information and education in an age appropriate manner to young children.
- Undertaken relevant animal care certificates/qualifications.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION
- You must have previous experience and demonstrated ability and skills in a similar role
- Hold a current Blue card or be prepared to obtain prior to commencement
- You must be Double Vaccinated for Covid-19
- Desire to work with children and demonstrated capacity to enhance their learning experiences
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven willingness to learn and develop
The role is for an immediate start for approximately 15-20 hrs per week.
