Positions Vacant: Animal Attendant/Driver AND Admin Assistant (2 Positions)

 

ANIMAL ATTENDANT/DRIVER: 

Dynamic new core team member required. Position is casual due to nature of the rosters - but is ongoing and long term.

Applicants need to be available to work for a minimum 5 days on a roster basis including weekends, school holidays and public holidays.

Shifts are from 7.30 AM -2:00 PM or from 2:00 PM – 7.30 PM.

Applicants must be available for all shifts - some consideration offered for regular commitments (ie sports/activities).  Doubles (all day) sometimes available.

Applicants must hold a current driver’s license

 

Animal Attendant / Driver Duties:  Duties for the general care and transport  of pets whilst in boarding or rescue include the following:

  • Clean and sanitizes all kennels, runs, holding pens and related areas
  • Administer and accurately record medications or other special requirements
  • Ensure pets are always clean and smell fresh
  • Assist with bathing pets whist in boarding and prior to departure
  • Patrol kennels regularly picking up any animal waste and rubbish
  • Feed each pet as prescribed and record appetites
  • Recognize and report signs of illness, disease, injury, or unusual activity to Facility Supervisor or Administration
  • Perform housekeeping, sanitizing dishes and laundry duties
  • Make sure all pets are properly identified at all times
  • Learn proper methods of animal restraint
  • Assist Veterinarian/Animal Technician with animal restraint for vaccination, Microchips and general health checks.
  • Provide transport for boarding clientele
  • Provide collection of stray animals from the community
  • Receive pets admitted for care with attention to proper identification and respective needs
  • Assist in the release of pets to their owners as directed by Customer Service, Management, Facility Supervisor or Rescue Coordinator.

 

Animal Attendant / Driver / Skills:

  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Be energetic, quick to learn and have attention to detail
  • Have good communication and team building skills
  • Be hard working, reliable and responsible
  • Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
  • Be physically fit and able to maintain a busy schedule
  • Be physically capable of managing large powerful dogs
  • Work part of a team or autonomously when required
  • Have knowledge of basic dog behaviour
  • Be able to recognise and identify common breeds and crossbreeds
  • Have knowledge of common diseases, symptoms and means of transmission

RECEPTIONIST/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 

Introducing a new position of Receptionist/Administrative Assistant for our busy Boarding Kennels and Rescue Facility. This is a unique entry-level position for a motivated applicant. Position is casual but with guaranteed minimum hours. Long term/permanent prospects for the right candidate. Potential to extend into areas of animal care may be available but not guaranteed.Hours envisaged to be 4-5 days per week with some Saturday mornings.8:00 AM start to 3:30 PM Saturdays 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM as a guide.

 

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant  Duties:

  • Administering to telephone, computer and in person enquires
  • Managing admission and departures of pets into boarding
  • Recognize and record any unusual condition or abnormal behaviour of any pet being admitted
  • Accurately record medication or other special requirements on admission
  • Make sure animals are clean and smell fresh on departure
  • Track deposits, payments and settling of accounts on departure
  • Labeling and stocking of belongings, supplies and donations
  • Maintaining and communicating dates changes  to Facility Manager
  • Keep safe and clean reception/admission areas
  • Assisting other areas of the Facility’s responsibilities as and when required
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Receptionist Qualifications / Skills:

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, and Word, Excel
  • Ability to learn customised software programs
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and communications skills
  • The ability to write grammatically correct memos and emails with professionalism and accuracy
  • Relatively efficient typing skills
  • The ability to properly organize files, folders, and schedule transport and vet appointments
  • The ability to multitask and stay organized
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Handling pressure with customer listening focus
  • Professionalism and organisation at all times.
